Vladimr Guerrero to Long Island Ducks?

Ken Rosenthal tweeted thet Vladimir Guerrro's agent has been in contact with the Ducks.

There isn't much I can say about this. Not only would his pack the pond, but it would give the Ducks a legitimate power hitting DH. Guerrero has 449 home runs, and 1496 RBI with a .318 batting average in his major league career. For years he was one of the best players in baseball.

Vlad is one of my favorite players of all-time. Growing up in Vermont we made frequent trips to Montreal to watch him play. I once saw him touch the right field wall, and throw a strike to the third base man. In my mind he should be in the Hall of Fame. It would be nice to see him sign with the Ducks, but even nicer to see him get back to MLB. He's 51 home runs short of 500, which would most likely be his ticket to the hall.

  1. Vladimir Guerrero is 38, so I don't think he's got a realistic chance to go back to the majors and hit 51 more home runs.

Still, it would be nice to see a legitimate star-level player in independent baseball this year.

  2. I agree that it's a long shot for him to get back to the majors and hit 51 home runs, but I'd like to see it. He's one of my favorite players of all-time, and hopefully he does sign with the Ducks because I'll be able to get the ball signed that he threw me in 1999. Either way, it's still pretty cool.
