Astros Sign Lindauer, Send Him To Tri-City

The Houston Astros have have signed Thomas Lindauer their 23rd round (677th overall) selection in the 2013 MLB Draft, and assigned him to Tri-City of the New York-Penn League.

Lindauer, a shortstop from the University of Illinois, had a .309 batting average with nine home runs and 38 RBI for the Fighting Illini in 2013. He was named to the All-Big Ten First team last season.

Lindauer is foregoing his senior season at Illinois to join the Astros organization.

From what I'm reading about Lindauer is that he's a solid hitter with some pop in his bat. Last season he had nine home runs out of the leadoff spot. He's also a pretty good base stealer, having swiped 15 bases in 16 attempts.
