Jim Ed Warden On Fire, Closing In On Saves Record!

Southern Maryland Blue Crabs pitcher Jim Ed Warden has been sensational for the Crabs this season posting a 0.49 with 10 saves and 2-0 record in 18.1 innings pitched.  As a result Southern Maryland is leading the Liberty Division this season.

The long time Crabs reliever now has 92 saves in his Atlantic League career, only 30 saves behind Mike Guilfoyle who had 122 saves for Bridgeport from 1998-2003.

Why it's not likely Warden will break the record this season or at all, he is on pace to save 30 games this season which would put him 10 behind Guilfoyle going into the 2014 season.

Baseball is such a unpredictable game, but this is something cool to watch for the rest of the season. I've met Jim Ed, and I'd like to see him get the record. He should be closer to the record at this point but he left to pitch in the Mets organization in 2009, and had a rough 2012. If he doesn't break the record in 2013, hopefully he comes back for 2014.
