Eric Niesen Has Contract Purchased By Boston Red Sox

Long Island Ducks President/General Manager tweeted that Eric Niesen has had his contract purchased by the Boston Red Sox organization, and will be assigned to their Triple-A Affiliate Pawtucket.

Niesen was 4-0 with a 3.23 ERA in 39 innings for the Ducks this season.

Prior to joining the Ducks, Niesen played five seasons in the New York Mets organization after being drafted by them in the 3rd round (99th overall) of the 2007 Major League Draft. He had a 20-40 record with a 4.54 ERA in 430 innings pitched during his time in the Mets organization. He joined the Ducks in 2012, and posted a 3-2 record with a 4.05 ERA that season.

Update: Niesen pitched one inning for the Paw Sox on Tuesday, giving up one run on two hits.
