Things I Noticed On Day 2 Of Jets Training Camp

I had to pull out a roster as I watched Jets training camp in Cortland, NY yesterday. The roster had been turned over so much I didn't recognize most of the guys there. However, it was great to see some football up close.

One player who stood out to me was running back John Griffin. The second year player about of the University of Massachusetts looked extremely quick in practice yesterday, and he also looked good when he ran the ball in team drills. Griffin may be called upon to get some carries with the injury to Chris Ivory at running back.

Another player who looked good was receiver Clyde Gates who was quick and made some great plays. Gates has been generating some early buzz in camp, and could get a lot of playing time if Santonio Holmes is out.

However much of the attention in camp is being paid to the Jets quarterbacks. I was pretty impressed with Geno Smith who has great touch on the ball and put the ball where only the receivers can get it. At times Mark Sanchez was a little wild. While I was taking a picture of a receiver, a ball sailed way over the receivers head. I turned to my friend and said "Who threw that?" He replied, "Do you even need to ask?"

Overall it was only the second day of camp so players are still working off some of the rust. Hopefully next weekend I'll get a chance to head back up to Cortland to see some more of the Jets training camp, and see how the team has progressed.
