The Somerset Patriots announced today that they have signed outfielder Ty Wright for the 2014 season.

"Ty (Wright) is a key addition to our already great outfield corps. He's a great teammate and a great player, the kind of guy we look for. He's had success at every level and we expect the same from him in Somerset. We're very excited to have him," said Jon Hunton Director of Player Personnel for the Patriots.

Wright was originally drafted in the 7th round (217th overall) by the Chicago Cubs in the 2007 MLB Draft out of Oklahoma State University. Wright played all seven seasons of his professional career in the Cubs organization including 238 games at the Triple-A level. He has a career .292 batting average with 60 home runs and 381 RBI in 724 games.

Last season hit split time between the Cubs Double-A affiliate Tennessee and their Triple-A affiliate Iowa. He compiled a .269 batting average with nine home runs and 55 RBI between the two levels.
