30 Second College Hockey Preview: UConn @ RPI, 10/21/18

The RPI Engineers (0-2-0) will face the UConn Huskies tonight at Houston Field House in Troy, NY.

The Engineers were swept in a 2-game series last weekend by UMass and were outscored 9-2 in the two games. Both Engineer goals  were power play goals and scored by freshman Jakob Lacka.

RPI played much better in the second game of last weekend's series and even had a chance to tie the game up at 2-2 in the beginning of the third period but just couldn't get the puck in the net.

UConn (1-2-0)  is coming off a 7-2 loss to Providence College last night in Providence. The game featured 15 total penalties and 5 power play goals, 2 of which were scored by the Huskies. Jachym Kondelik leads in the Huskies with 4 points (all assists) this season while Karl El-Mir and Alexander Payusov lead the Huskies with two goals thus far.

Key to the game:

- Penalties, penalties, penalties! Both of these teams struggle on the penalty kill and need to stay out of the penalty box. This was especially evident for the Engineers who were called for seven penalties in the first game against UMass and lost 6-1, but only three in the second game and lost 3-1.

- RPI also has a slight advantage since they didn't play last night while the Huskies lost in the Providence, RI and have to make the journey to Troy, NY tonight.

- The Engineers need to get their 5-on-5 offensive going. Jacob Hayhurst who lead RPI in scoring last season has only two assists so far this season.
